Jyme McKerlie Vyborny was born on December 2, 1921 in Oakland, California. When she was five, her family moved to Merced. She attened Merced County public schools including Merced High School.
In her late teens she would meet her sister, Bonnie, at the Post Office where Bonnie worked. While waiting she met Lumir Vyborny and in April of 1941 they married.
In the 1950s, Jyme worked for the Merced County Schools in the Audio Visual Department. In the 1960s she worked for the local office of the Selective Service (the Draft Board).
In 1947 Jyme and Lumie built a house on a lot at 456 W 27th Street in Merced. They lived in the house for more than 50 years, and still had the same phone number until the house was sold in 2022.
